 Child safeguarding issues - MD
Good evening,

Are there any professionals here who could proffer some advice or reliable guidance? I'm asking for a younger colleague who is sadly getting lost in the mire. It would ideally be via private message. It's not complicated, but he/we could do with some help. It seems to us that agency's push things around and around and where matters may be slightly off of the normal track then they dilly dally. I 'may' be being unfair, but at the moment that is my experience.

Best.....MD

No private message feature here but the mods will pass on introductory emails if reqd. smokie

Unless it concerns schools then I am afraid I do not.

What 'agency' do you mean?

We've come across MASH (forget the jokes). Multi agency safeguarding hub Toothless so far. I don't want to post more details here for reasons that may be obvious.

The authorities are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

On the one hand there are cases from Maria Colwell on where they failed to act. On the other they're constantly accused of acting unnecessarily and splitting families.

Which side of the fence does this one fall?

We're now at the stage where I would prefer a private chat. There's no 'splitting' but there's a male involved with 'form'. Can't say anymore on here, but would be happy to talk to some of you long termers if only for a wider view.

Not my area of expertise MD but I do know as far as the Police are concerned they have specialist Officers and reports to them are risk assessed for the appropriate interventions.

I’m not sure DCC know which way is up. The situation to which I allude is worrying.

I don't know enough about the subject to get involved in private chat.

There's some stuff here:

Barnardos or the nspcc might be starting points for help.

Martin - did you see I sent you a further email last night with what I hope will be some helpful info?

All received thank you.

Massive thanks to you Smokie and to Mark from Chile for other input. Both couldn't have been more comprehensive. Thank you both for bothering to take the time.

Thanks to Fullchat for the comment re: Specialist officers.

Best wishes to all,

MD.
