Ethics and Hotel Bookings - Major Chain - zippy
So, I need to travel later this evening and stay in a hotel.

The hotel was booked using a flexible fully refundable booking for £150.

The non-flexible rate now is £45.

Do I book the new room at £45 and cancel my older booking.

Or will karma bite my a***?

Do it.

Smae thing just happened to me. I booked a room the night after a wedding at a hotel near the wedding venue. £85 for one night.

We decided to stay over the night before as well, so I tried to amend the booking online but I couldn't. I rang the hotel where a bloke siad "email the reservations team". I did with no response.

I then went back online and discovered that the price for one night was £50. So I made a new reservation for two nights at £100 and cancelled the single night.

Their own fault. If they had taken my call I would have happily paid £170 for two nights.

I wouldn't.

If they messed me around as they did Netsur then all bets are off and I would see it as entirely their fault and feel no guilt.

But to make the cancellation/re-booking at the very last moment when you've had the benefit seems wrong.

And anyway, it is just the sort of thing where karma does bite your butt.

Back home now.

Had a 08:00 meeting 180 miles away and just couldn't be late so stayed over.

Got to the hotel. Couple in front paid and reception said that will be £50.

At my turn she looked at my booking and said let me change that for you! £50. Result.
