 Hi Fi - legacylad
May be of interest to any audiophiles?
I’ve an ongoing life declutter, which is proving quite successful, and next to go are my hi fi separates. At one point I thought I’d be buying a small bolt hole in Spain but Brexit changed that idea so I won’t be taking them overseas to gather dust in a foreign country.
If anyone is seriously interested and will appreciate them I’ll let them go cheaply, or even for the cost of a few barrels of beer ( I’ve a major birthday soon and hosting a bash) + a donation to the RBL.
Includes Linn LP12 deck, various Naim amps & power supply, Arcam CD player, Denon tuner , spiked tables x 3 etc etc
Feel free to email....I’d much rather they go to someone here and save me the hassle of touting round dealers or listing online.
TIA

I had this problem last year.

A rack full of fairly good quality gear 2 or 3 decades old + speakers taking up lots of space. Rarely used as modern tech - music downloads, DAB etc had passed it by on the road to obselesence.

Now have one box + sound bar that does everything, no need to store 12" LPs, and CDs likely to go the same way soon.

No real value so I didn't both going through the hassle of trying to find a sale. Gave it to British Heart Foundation (or charity of choice) for the sake of the few ££ I may have got on ebay!

LL, your stuff is better than average hi-fi separates that attract no interest, the stuff you have will attract plenty of good offers if on ebay.

I'd agree with that but I wish there were an alternative to eBay, which I think has become over-priced.

It can be a right faff too, having to find packaging, all the effort of readying it for delivery and then taking it to the Post Office (I realise other more convenient services are available but the point stands).

I won't generally bother with eBay these days, not to make a tenner or so.

My daughter has shifted some stuff on some bit of Facebook, the good thing about that it that it was a fairly wide local catchment so people will collect.

EDIT: Facebook Marketplace she tells me. though you set a price rather than auction items so may not achieve best price

I just Freegled a load of stuff from my loft - 2 mattresses, 2 old suitcases & holdalls, some lamps, and an Ottoman and that, by and large, is easy, and in my case saved a trip to the tip and quite a bit of landfill. Wouldn't want to give away expensive stuff though!

And I am quite miffed by Ebay doing away with Paypal for vendors and demanding my bank details. I dont trust them with such data

The Linn alone is worth serious money if the ads I have just Googled are representative of achieved prices and if I am looking at the right model. You might be surprised at how much some of the other gear is potentially worth too. I have similar-aged set up of Arcam separates and they also are advertised at strong prices.

I agree that it is a hassle dealing with the public but a specialist dealer might make a decent offer if its all such good stuff.

Totally agree. I'm doing a de-clutter and using facebook marketplace. I'll look the item up on ebay, lowest price, UK only, sold items. Ignore those that have only one bid (suspect the vendor withdrew them) and ask half that price. Not doing too bad.
 Hi Fi - DP
Massive market for LP12s still, and Naim gear if it's in good working order.

Actually, what I meant to say was, nobody will want your Naim gear, but I'll take it off your hands for a tenner! :)

List it all on eBay with good photos, descriptions etc. I think you'll be surprised.
 Hi Fi - legacylad
Flipping eck you’re not wrong.
Together with Naim Snaps amp & pre amp they’re worth more than a tenor ( geddit)
I’d better make sure it still goes round and play some old LPs before I advertise the whole kit n kaboodle.

When I have my first knee replacement I will apparently be stuck here at home for some time. I intend to re-kindle the selling of my 'crap' which has proven to be quite productive previously.

Whether anyone can get the sales to a Post Office for me (or indeed find one) is another matter.

See elsewhere - I've been clearing the loft and didn't bother trying to sell anything cos of the hassles I've had, and the costs. But even giving it away on Freegle has been hard work. People asking for stuff then not showing up, and no communication from them. Some have been fine. I'm just trying to do my bit to avoid landfill where poss,

I'm going through that process now. Decided it's not worth offering stuff for free and offer it for a quid. Got rid of a ladder today, to a guy who's doing up a boat. He was delighted, imagine climbing into and out of a thirty footer on dry land. This was after three 'no shows'.

My father and his sister both had it done and both found the experience horrendously painful. One persevered with the physio despite the pain, one did not. The one who kept pushing suffered more at the time, but ultimately ended up pain free and with greater mobility.

The other did not.

Sites like Parcel2Go, Interparcel and ParcelMonkey offer collection from your house as well as drop-off. The prices aren't very far off Royal Mail rates for small parcels either. We use the first two for sending business parcels every day.

One of the first evenings in the new house was spent sorting out my Hi Fi collection. It was generally mid-range stuff. My TEAC mini system from the nineties still sounds good. We have an immense and eclectic mix of CDs so I need the hardware to use them ! Lovely sound from the system though.
