there are some strange folk about

Have you never invested in a fairly specialised tool of some sort for a once-off job then thought that was fun, I'd like to do more of that? :-)

I once ended up cutting more wood than I would ever need when a mate lent me a bench saw!! So satisfying!! :-)

Oh yes. And not even just when I first buy it, quite often into the future.

I pick up a pressure washer, chainsaw, paintsprayer etc. and the children, cats and neighbours all leave.

When all you've got in your hand is a hammer then everything looks like a nail holds true for most tools.

A couple of weeks ago I bought 6 cans of expanding foam and a gun to fill various voids in the new house. Surprised how addictive it was.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Robin O'Reliant
Weed burners are like that. Useless for getting rid of weeds, but the thrill of scorching or setting fire to stuff with that hissing blue flame is so satisfying.
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - hawkeye
Some years ago my neighbour got so addicted to burning weeds, he set fire to our beech hedge. I was busy under a car pretending I knew what I was doing when I became aware of a smell of burning vegetation. Neighbour was trying to put out the fire on his side with a watering can and a bucket and losing ground, mainly because the weed burner was lying on its side, still alight. A section of my side was burning merrily. My hose pipe (and utter heroism) saved the day!

Tool addiction can be dangerous.

;)

And very effective at disabling a car of anyone who annoys you (squirt it up the tailpipe).

In days of yore a small spud was a much cheaper alternative.

Hell yes that hadn't occurred to me...that would be devastatingly effective, impossible to deal with if you can't get at it. It's actually quite hard to control the stuff anyway, obviously it expands as you dispense it and you think that's it - then you come back the following day to find it's expanded quite a lot more and you've actually used far too much.

I've still got two cans left so nobody had better upset me.

If you do have too much, you can hacksaw it to shape fairly easily and with less mess than you might think.

Yes, it's easy enough to cut away when you can get at it!

 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Duncan

 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - smokie
I think we've sapped that one dry.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Clk Sec
His ashen face gave the game away.
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - smokie
Whose? Rowan?
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Clk Sec
Possibly, but he'll need to spruce up a bit before he's questioned.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Runfer D'Hills
I expect there's an apple app to explain it.
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - smokie
Nah that went pear shaped
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Runfer D'Hills
At least the police logged the incident.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Clk Sec
This must be getting on the OPs pip.
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - tyrednemotional

He only did it because he was board.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Runfer D'Hills
Maybe we should parquet it there?
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - smokie
Fir he's a jolly good feller...
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - VxFan

Maybe we ought to start logging them.

The last time I saw him, he was on the beech with Hazel.

 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - neiltoo
OK I apologise wholheartedly for starting this

It's been difficult, the evidence has been disappearing at a rate of knots. But if it does go to court, at least there should be something to put before the bench. If it leads to a custodial sentence, he may have to be wary of the screws.

I should really stop now I suppose?
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Runfer D'Hills
...although I suppose at one time, if he'd done this, he might have got the birch.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - No FM2R
Oh dear God, make it stop.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Robin O'Reliant
Yes, I think it's time to leaf it.
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - smokie
Mark the elder has spoken. He seems to be not oak A with it.

Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - No FM2R
FFS!!! AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH The pain, make it end....
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Runfer D'Hills
Oh dear, it does seem to be a bit of a saw point for some. Not that there have been any particularly cutting remarks.
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - smokie
Did someone kick him in the balsa?
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - No FM2R
I hate you all.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Runfer D'Hills
There was no intention to kindle any animosity. If I could be the first to offer an olive branch...

...it's obvious that the culprit was a Julius Caesar impersonator "Veni, vidi, vici" (I came, I sawed the conkers)....
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - smokie
It'd be kind to stop, for his sake, wooden tit?
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Robin O'Reliant
Poor chap, we've driven him conkers.
Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - bathtub tom
He was barking anyway, the poor sap.

C'mon chips, enough's as good as a forest...

Do you think we've given Mark enough stick yet?
 Surrey Chainsaw Massacre - Duncan
Asking us to stop goes against the grain.
