"Last year, there were hundreds of complaints after Gavin and Stacey characters Nessa and Bryn sang the unedited version in the sitcom's seasonal special.
Especially designed so that no one, nowhere and at any time can be offended. Or more importantly, so that the Right-on Woke brigade can't be offended on anyone's behalf.

Never read the lyrics until now. Never watched Gavin and Stacey either come to that. I seem to have missed a chance to be offended when there’s so little else in the world to be offended by.

Apropos of not a lot, but I have watched a couple of episodes, and I thought it was only mildly funny but compared with Ricky Gervais and The Office it was thigh-slappingly hilarious.
I like(d) Kirsty MacColl. Not keen on that thing with the Pogues though.
I like it. Not as anything significant on it-s own, and I certainly don't care about the words. But the sound of it is one of the sounds that mean Christmas to me.

When I was a Round Tabler we used to do the Father Christmas float around the streets. I probably did it for almost 20 years for maybe 3 or 4 nights a week on average. I know many of those songs very well as a result, but i still enjoy (some of) them. Must be worse working in Tesco or similar.
A supermarket worker I know gets very grumpy at Christmas.
Can't be as bad as the music played over 'racing camels', you roll balls up a slope to drop them down holes and your camel moves forward depending on the value of the hole. A tune (I use the word loosely) about 30 seconds long is played continuously. Imagine working with that! www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8HXW9ljjR4
