Word Association and Thread Drift - BobbyG
On the basis that so many threads drift here, my thread on fatal RTA ending with an attack on convertible Focus and Humphs power slide ending in a disco called Moles . . .

So the rules are you can only add one sentence in your post in reply to the post before but there must be a tenuous link somewhere. Of course if more than one person replies at the same time we will end up with more and more tangents . . . .

So to start us off:

I am currently sitting outside the school typing this on my Nokia 95 using Opera whilst waiting for my daughter to come out from her Tae Kwon Do class.

You forgot to put your moderators wand in your post Bobby. :)

An interesting idea, but can be over-done. What next - threads moderated by "owners", "personal messaging", atavars, sigs, etc. etc.? From the sublime to the mundane.

Oh, not an attack on you, BTW.

And me being simple as you all know thought it would be a bit of a grin in the short term.

Oh well, back to refereeing Z and Iffy then.

OK OK boys.......only joking. x

Firstly, yu didnt referee, you stirred it up.

Secondly I beat iffy into a b***** pulp.

Word Association and Thread Drift - Avant
No point in stirring pulp - it'll still be pulp.
Word Association and Thread Drift - Iffy
...secondly I beat iffy into a b***** pulp...

In your dreams, but interesting you should feel the need to attempt it.

Stick to wiping out super powers, it's much easier.

Anyone else think they went downhill after their first album?

PS Why was my original reply deleted? Is HJ's prude-filter still active?

...Anyone else think they went downhill after their first album?...

That's true of many bands - they struggle to recapture that first rapture.
Word Association and Thread Drift - R.P.
Your reply wasn't moderated - but without knowing what you said can't be sure whether the swear filter kicked in, yes it is the same as HJ's swear filter but slightly more tolerant.

Options.

Oxo
Word Association and Thread Drift - Iffy
...Oxo...

Which wouldn't be served at the OXO Tower restaurant - posh nosh in a not very posh part of London (sorry, Mapmaker).

I think the tower was originally used to produce lead shot.

The molten balls were dropped from the top, and by the time they reached the bottom, they were solid.

Tower of London just downstream from there..
Word Association and Thread Drift - Zero
Sorry iffy, its a load of old balls

The building was originally constructed as a power station for the Post Office, built towards the end of the 19th century. It was subsequently acquired by the Liebig Extract of Meat Company, manufacturers of Oxo beef stock cubes, for conversion into a cold store.[2][3]

The building was largely rebuilt to an Art Deco design by company architect Albert Moore between 1928 and 1929. Much of the original power station was demolished, but the river facing facade was retained and extended. Liebig wanted to include a tower featuring illuminated signs advertising the name of their product. When permission for the advertisements was refused, the tower was built with four sets of three vertically-aligned windows, each of which "coincidentally" happened to be in the shapes of a circle, a cross and a circle. Liebig and the building were eventually purchased by the Vestey Group.[2][3]

Actually that part of london, from the southbank to London bridge, is one of the best parts of london now. Super pizzas at Gabriels Wharf, the best views of london, and of course Borough Market.

A flask of oxo with a couple of drops of Lea and Perrins and a touch of ground black pepper is a nice alternative to take on an overnight winter drive instead of coffee. Tough to dunk bread in it politely though. Especially in the dark. Maybe there is a use for that little amber downlighter after all........

I miss the Oxo tower.

It wasn't a shot tower to my knowledge.

In a shot tower, the molten lead is shaken through a sieve of a certain grade. Similar-sized droplets of lead coalesce into spheres on the way down and are then cooled in water. One assumes careful monitoring of temperature and so on.

I sometimes wonder if the larger sizes of buckshot are made in the same way. Might take a taller tower.

Why, wheres it gone? It was there a week ago last sunday.

You mean they've put it back?

I still miss it.

i thought it was sold to the yanks on a gravy train

You wouldn't miss it with the right shot size.

Yeah she was ok till Mike Smith pushed her out of his helicopter. Just before the sad death of some chap on Noel Edmunds's Saturday evening tv show. After crashing into anything that moved (or didn't) on the BTTC circuit.

"Debbie Flint first stepped into the 'Broom Cupboard' as holiday cover for Phillip Schofield during 1986."

I can remember when she was a presenter on QVC. Even only 3 or 4 years ago she was still quite a looker - the only reason for watching QVC, honest.

"Although he was never full time in the 'Broom Cupboard', Simon Parkin was a key presenter from 1987-1992"

He now presents the weather forecast on my local TV news station.

"Toby Anstis"

Radio presenter on my local radio station.

Seems 99% of the Broomcupboard presenters are still on TV / Radio in some capacity.
