Ridiculous waste of money, if you ask me. But it's a free world, I guess.

I actually find the idea of Brexit "celebration" events really rather sickening and sinister, its reminiscent of the kind of brainwashing rallies employed by the national socialists. If the idea is to promote national unity it will have the exact opposite.

Both the attempt to get Big Ben to chime (plus all the planned lightshows round Whitehall, flying the union flag, issuing a Brexit coin etc.) and the Cliffs of Dover banner are all insensitive and empty gestures, put forward presumably by people who haven't yet got over the result of the referendum - whichever way they voted. And they are a total waste of money, wherever it comes from.

Pretty much sums it up.

Yup both sides should just STFU and cope with whatever comes.

Altogether now, one two three ... Heil Nigel.

Better value than the proposed Big Ben Bongs.

I find funding both activities to be equally weird, I guess some people have money burning a hole in their pocket.

Perhaps therre should be some balance to mark the event - together with light shows and music for Brexiteers, the bells should toll to mark the demise of the European dream for Remainers who marginally lost.
In truth the sooner we stop the gloating and moaning, and get on with making the outcome work, the better it will be for everybody.
|
A laudable view perhaps but exactly how do I “make the outcome work”?

Keep calm and carry on.

I guess so. Just sit back and wait I suppose. How long until the country will transformed into the promised land of milk and honey? What do you reckon?

"What do you reckon?"
Well, it was a bit foggy here this morning and I thought the sky was falling in ....... but then the sun came out and I breathed a sigh of relief. Phew ..... this 'project fear' stuff is making me so nervous!
|
I keep hearing "Land of hope and Glory" in my head for some reason!
