Thanks Humph - certainly puts some stuff into perspective. Respect him for his protest.

Lee Hazlewood, far and away the coolest guy that ever walked the earth. Check out the tache. And check out the lyrics. She seduces him and steals his boots.

Gram Parsons deserves a mention for writing the best song ever.

Funnily enough I have a 12in single of that (recorded at The Roundhouse in '72) by the desk right now... bought at a record stall the other week and just waiting for the turntable to come out from under the bed to give it a spin.

To be fair, I wouldn't really care if they couldn't sing, but they can and this is really worth a listen......

Ah, the beautiful coooors

Well, you lot have me baffled again. I know little of all this stuff wot you 'ave put in this thread. Although I was at the first Beatles concert in Manchester, at the Apollo.
I had an ulterior motive, though. I was a Police cadet at the time, probably late '63, and I knew there'd be lots of young crumpet there in mini-skirts.....I was right, carrying those who had fainted to the back of the theatre was a real pleasure !
My own favourites...The Four Last Songs, by Richard Strauss. A stunning performance on the Proms last weekend with a Finnish soprano.
I could listen to them every day........and sometimes do.
Right, back to your pop now.......I've injected a bit of quality !

Middle-aged blokes with tattoos and perms making a racket.
And the guy using the guitar with two frets just cannot be serious.

Well less serious than this guy...

Still a mystery, Pat.
Anyway, I've got me kit on, the Honda's gleaming in the sunlight. I've got a bit of cash for a nice lunch at Delamere Station and I'm off for a bimble round Cheshire for a few hours.
Ain't life hell ?

This is fun, kick back, pour a large one, close your eyes, turn up the volume ( mind your speakers ) and enjoy something a bit regional but a bit different....... guaranteed to get a Hogmanay party going too ! :-)

It's not just fun, it's also exceptionally good:)
I listened to a couple of their others too including Going Home.
For me it's all about the atmosphere at a concert, it really is something special when all those people are 'at one'.

Yeah....good !
I've got it by Kenneth McKellar.....better !

No list would be complete without this classic -

Been to a few Runrig concerts whilst Donny Munro was still there - absolutely fantastic experience.
Hadn't listened to them for a while but updated my ipod recently and was giving them a blast. Some very haunting tunes as well as party makers!
Humph, did you ever listen to Tom Ferrie on Radio Scotland in your Scottish days??

Certainly did. Seems a lifetime ago now though...I miss Scotland. I'd go back in an instant if they could arrange to turn the heating up a bit !

Youtube is truly amazing. Used to listen to this stuff at University. Not aged well (like me), but infinitely better than Aerosmith:

But not as good looking as Steve Tyler:)

Sigh... My tastes in music have yet to catch up with the majority of posters here! But then I was actively listening to rave music around the turn of the 90s - not many peoples' cup of tea I admit. Amazing what classics Youtube turns up though.
