If they're not squashed by the retracting wheels (there's next to no spare space in a wheel well) then the cold gets them. Even in Western Europe or USA I suspect it would be nigh on impossible to eliminate possibility of an intruder, in hours of darkness, getting to a remote holding point and climbing into a wheel well. Oh definitely, and timed with military precision to ensure that he wasn't spotted climbing into the wheel well by ground staff or other passengers on a bright Nairobi morning in the half hour between inspection and boarding.
