The loss of a beautiful voice. I have his CD "Scott Walker sings Jacques Brel" and I think the tone of the songs suit Walker well (pity about the translations though).

Can't say I've heard of him.

What some people (including myself occasionally) haven't heard of never ceases to surprise.
Try "No Regrets" by the Walker Brothers. Great song, fabulous arrangement including a nice guitar solo.

Not my cup of tea at all. No wonder I've not heard of him before.

??
...there are an awful lot of musicians that aren't my cup of tea, but that I've heard of....

I guess we all have areas of ignorance but popular music is so all pervasive that you woul have though it difficult to avoid being aware of his music even if not able to put a name to the performer..

Popular media is all pervasive but I can’t name a single winner of X Factor, Strictly come Dancing/Cooking/Baking, The Voice, Dancing on Ice.
I’ve heard of Ollie Murs who might have won one of the singing/talent competitions ...otherwise I’m clueless.

Not my cup of tea, but certainly heard him and of him.
