Rewiring a power only usb - Bobby
I bought a Yi CCTV camera when they were on amazon cheap deals last month.
It is powered by a usb cable which is hard wired into camera and usb adaptor on othercend which plugs into a socket just like your phone.

Have had a mishap when fitting it which resulted in the cable being severed just before the usb adaptor.

Cable seems to only have two cables in it, black and red, but being usb it’s going to be very low powered 5V/1A so I can’t just hook up into a standard plug.

Any ideas how to either rewire to usb or how else I can wire it?

Get a USB lead you don't care about. Cut it, join the colours.

It's why places like Poundland sell USB leads.

...as it's close to the lead end, I'd do "a proper job", and replace the plug.

"Rewireable USB Plug"s are two a penny on eBay, and the pinout sequence is easily Googled.

You may need to be able to solder the leads to the plug, however, I don't think many are solder-free (though with two wires, it should be easy enough if you know someone with a soldering iron).
