Odd that the BBC actually LED their news with this, as well as majoring on it in Breakfast.
Priorities seem a bit confused, or is it panem et circenses, to shield the great unwashed from the real stuff?

I thought he'd gone years ago. Same with Mary Wilson who has died aged 102.

Knew Stringfellow was still with us - on radio occasionally. Mary Wilson though was definitely dead years ago......

"Who is the oldest and longest surviving spouse of a former Prime Minister?"
Is or was?
Was Mary Wilson Died age 102
Is Norma Major age 76
|
>> Was Mary Wilson Died age 102
>> Is Norma Major age 76
Mary was oldest but the answer isn't Norma Major.
|
"Mary was oldest but the answer isn't Norma Major."
The (somewhat surprising to me) answer is on here...........

As Haywain's link points out answer is Clarissa, Lady Avon who was wife of Anthony Eden/Lord Avon.
I saw the name in the paper in coverage of Mrs Wilson's passing and did a double take as he was born in 1890 something. Clarissa, a niece of Winston Churchill, was his second wife and nearly a quarter century younger. I believe Eden is the only divorcee to me PM of UK.
|
I'd discounted her. From another age. I can just about remember the Suez Crisis.

True, but on the technicality that the UK dates only from 1801:
"The Duke of Grafton (1766–1768) is the only Prime Minister to have divorced and remarried while in office." it says in the link.

"Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy s***, what a ride!"

On the contrary for me life's journey is to avoid arriving at the grave as long as possible. The grass looks much better from above than below

You mean by level-pegging with your fellow in the inside lane, holding up a long queue behind you? :)

You get more of the scenery in the inside lane, plenty room for others to overtake if they want to :-)
