 Composite decking boards - Bobby
We had normal wooden decking built when we got our extension 8 years ago.

However the decking area is shaded on one side and is really looking weather beaten and dirty.

Have been wondering, since I saw them in my sister's garden, whether I should replace with the composite decking boards? These seem to be much more weather durable, can be hosed down and washed.

Anyone got them and importantly, are they able to be fitted onto standard wooden joist frame?

Bucket of hot water, soda crystals and a scrubbing brush?

That's what I'm going to try on my daughter's at the house she's just bought.

Power wash, and seal with decking oil. We did ours here at the tail end of the autumn. I missed a bit and the difference is pretty apparent now after the hard winter we had.

Was always told to NOT power wash as it made the wood flaky?

Yes, can make it "hairy". I've done that with garden furniture. Hence the soda experiment. Did I tell you it was experimental?

As a yoof I and a pal had a job in a shop where we were told some get some ancient black floorboards clean. We mixed up all the strong fluids we could find to scrub and mop it with. After several weeks of this, most of the nails in the floorboards seemed to have dissolved.
