Seems both sides could well cause pain and cost to the other side. It would seem sensible to come to a compromise.

Presumably all the 'GPS' receivers I'm military equipment would need replacing if we introduce a new system.

The more up to date GPS chipset can use the other GPS systems because when they came online they would process the signals, hence the latest phones using GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and Beidou.

You'd think so, wouldn't you. But somehow the thought of the politicians doing something because it's sensible doesn't fill me with optimism.

...don't want any of those Brussels satellite signals over here, guv; we need to take back control of our Satnavs.

...price worth paying...

I'm just guessing but it's probably point scoring to set the scene in this or some other issue. This seems pretty big and either side seem able to put the brakes on the project. But who knows?

Probably unrelated but I know the gov have started looking into high altitude pseudo satellites.

Surely the signals from the current US system will still be available to the UK..?

Of course. And Galileo and GLONASS and Baidu.

But that is the civilian signal which is less accurate and in theory could be turned off. There is a much more accurate military signal which is less prone to jamming and we won't have access to that.

And the Americans don't trust us sufficiently to have access to their system and now neither do the EU trust us with theirs post Brexit. We are therefore going to build our own. Should come in on budget, no problem.

...no doubt it will incorporate the ability to guide anyone on the "wrong" side of The Channel who inputs a satnav destination of "Dover" to the small village of the same name in Denmark......

Oh for Glub's sake. The UK contributes to many EU-wide projects and has obligations to continue that funding well after Brexit or as part of the Brexit bill.

We expect our political leaders to behave like adults. Instead, they're acting like a bunch of kids in a playground.

"It's my ball and I'm going home."

I never thought I'd say this, but the more I see of this childish stupidity and bickering the more I am inclined to believe that the leavers got it right.

The politicians ballsed up being in the EU
They ballsed up the referendum about the EU
They are ballsing up leaving the EU

Anybody taking guesses on how well they'll manage out of the EU?
