Good! Greedy old trout.

Sweet.

Isn't just greed - it includes a total disregard for the rule of Law.

I bet a pound to a penny the rest of her family have an identical moral compass.

Hopefully now there is a retrial, and if found guilty the Clarkes get a serious pumping.

Interesting that her home was bugged by the police on the evidence of a tip off. Is this now normal practice. Sounds a bit like the Stasi to me.

Yes, if police has any suspicion they do have the technology to secretly watch your every steps.

This is why smart and hardcore criminals use dark web and non traditional currencies which can't be tracked so easily.

Predictive modelling technique can even predict who will commit a crime, when and where (to high level of confidence depending on input data fed). Minority Report style crime fighting is reality.

However, due to liberal laws and citing privacy invasion, capturing a criminal before crime is committed is not possible.

For gathering evidence for jury-knobbling and the highest level of perverting the course of justice, I hope so.

So do the police require any particular authority to bug your home or can they bug anyone they want?
Bribed Juror gets 6 years - Zero
Yes they do require authoority

Unless you are under the radar of GCHQ, its is however spectacularly easy to avoid being bugged. You do need to know however that someone has a reason to want to bug you. This ham fisted woman assumed she was safe.

That appears to be about intercepting phone and electronic messages. If I read it right in this case they were listening to conversations in her house using some sort of hidden microphone.

Correct, it is not technically intercept.

It is, however, covert surveillance (intrusive type).

Chapter 2.

From a technology point of view you would do well to assume that anything anybody wants to do is actually possible.

From a legal point of view anything anybody wants to do can be justified and authorised.

Your goal is to prevent or avoid them wanting to.

RIPA authority would have been given. Given the seriousness of the allegation that would have been a forgone conclusion.

My wife has been called for jury service on 3 occasions; alas, in all my 68 years, I haven't been called once - and I am as honest as the day is long!

Have I missed anything?

"They've been checking your browsing history."

If they had, I would have had a knock on the door by now ;-)
