The commonwealth games are on. Anyone watching it? Anyone interested?

In fact lets widen that.

The Commonwealth, given that I am sure it costs us money, why? whats the point. Whats in it for us?

It is of great interest to the commonwealth representatives here.

Typically I find it is only the British who whine about everything. Most of the other countries just get on and enjoy such things.

We are known as "the whinging poms". throughout the English speaking world. Not really a surprise though, is it?

Hardly. Some countries that were never in the Empire have joined in recent years.

I don't actually see the point, but lots do so there must be something useful.

I disagree about whinging poms up to a point.

The Dutch are worse for complaining.The majority have a high standard of living.Good social care and hospital facilities.The majority of pensions are linked to last year salaries.

All of them receive about 6% a year vakantie geld (holiday pay) that is pensioners included on top of anything else.They still have mortgage tax relief.

And they whine about everything.My sister bless her is top of the list.
