Scotsman was presumably timed to be on the relief line at that point so possibility of fast train on the main would be pretty obvious. I suspect Z would have crossed site off his list for exactly that reason.

He was probably 1st in the queue at Didcot the other bank holiday weekend

Yes thats the real Bittern. It did for while masquerade as "Dominion of New Zealand" Its currently off the line under heavy overhaul.

That must be what I was thinking of.

I saw Union of South Africa at Berwick upon Tweed in 2014, she stopped at the station for a while so got a look a close quarters as well as under steam.

I'm a bit of an ex spurt when it comes to carp, having had 3 skeptic tanks at various properties in Cornwall.

I spent a hole year, almost, down the one we had a phew properties ago.

You'd think I would have learnt [learned] my lesson by now, but no, there's one here and I'm having fisticuffs with it :(
