Prince Phillip is Alive And Well? - Robin O'Reliant
I can't see the Telegraph going in for this sort of spoof, so one can only assume this obituary of Prince Phillip has been published in error, along side all the stories of his retirement -

They've pulled it! Somebody at the DT has got a red face, and possibly a sore backside as well.

The Beeb's headline earlier was "Prince Phillip to carry out last engagement", which I thought might be somewhat ominous!

The headline is 'retires' but the link is till the same!

It can only have been on there for a few minutes before they realised. Fascinating to read through, I bet the old boy would have been amused.

Every news outlet has pre packed stories and obits for the death of anyone of national note, they are all there regularly updated, all someone needs to do is shout "Hold the Front Page" and press the new lead button.

Not surprising that now and again the button gets pressed in error.

Especially when the place is mostly staffed by unpaid, untrained kids.

"would have been" ? In what circumstances? Why do you suppose he isn't actually amused?

Some years ago, must have been around 2000, I worked for a software organisation that had dealings with, I believe that they might even have developed, a web portal that was essentially the "official" UK government website, a bit like today's gov.uk. There was an obit for the Queen Mum kept ready and waiting for publication in case she popped her clogs.
