Can anyone here suggest how I can find the management structure of this company please?

I've tried www.ceoemail.com/ without success.

I've been with them for a couple of months after leaving EDF, but now have serious problems with meter readings, despite providing my own and having a meter reader providing the same!

Was anyone aware that if you leave an energy supplier and provide your own meter readings, an independent moderator could decide those readings were not 'kosher' and provide an estimated reading in replacement?
I'm in such a situation, where my readings don't suit the moderator, despite my previous supplier charging less than my new supplier and my previous readings being less than the 'moderator' suggests - meaning I'm paying twice for the same energy.
I'm obviously not trying to 'fiddle the system' as I could have provided a higher than meter reading to my benefit.

Affect energy say this would have come to light eventually, but it's been going on now for a couple of months.

I suppose I could try OFGEM, but does anyone have any comments?

Not sure arguing with company direct is only/right way. OFGEM is one possibility or might Citizens Advice be able to help? Either the national consumer helpline 03454 04 05 06 or, depending on how they're funded for energy advice, your local CA

Thanks Brompt, I've tried CA before, but given up due the length of queue, due no doubt to my presence to the local Yarlswood immigration detention centre (if they haven't burnt it down recently).

I'll try the 0345 number.

...from various links (Companies House, Linkedin, etc) the current MD appears to be one John Szymic.

Can't find an email address for him, though.

I have had the same situation where my closing readings were not believed. Apparently gas was OK but not electricity.
I eventually got them changed to my figures but it took a lot of time and hassle.
I had changed to Ovo Energy. Disagreement was with previous supplier. They asked for a meter reading every month and then supplied online bills each month. A great way to keep track of your consumption. Call centre in Bristol so no problems with trying to understand people on a different continent and in a different time zone.

I moved away because their prices were less competitive and because they kept adjusting my readings. I was supposed to submit readings on 24th of each month - if I submitted a reading on 23rd they would amend the reading to what they thought it should be on 24th. Only a little difference but I really found it irritating.

Mirrors my experience with Ovo a few years ago. They didn't bill (or charge) me for gas for nearly a year. They said it was because the readings were "in dispute". Not with me, but between the old and new supplier. I had all the readings which I provided, again told them I didn't care within reason what they and the previous supplier used as long as it was the same one.

In their favour, I could actually ring them up and talk to somebody who responded like a human being.

Just in the process of moving to Together Energy, got my fingers crossed, they were the best deal by a good margin.

Had been with EDF for many years as they were always competitive, moved to Sainsburys last year on a very good one year fixed though that has now ended.

Rightly or wrongly, we've stuck with EDF for the last 5 or 6 years, changing to the currently-best tariff when the old one expired. I am aware that they may not be the cheapest, but their system works well for me and we've never had any grief from them.

The cheapest deal is not always the best deal, specially when it comes from unheard of start ups who are merely brokers and have no sway with the generators or suppliers.

That is probably very true. Looking at the directorships of Matthew Christopher HIRST in the Companies House link above, he has or has had 56 directorships on that report, mostly for energy companies.

He may or may not be a pillar of probity, I've no idea.

But in my simple mind there is a possibility that all the business might be run in a similar way, and therefore present similar problems to those the OP has suffered - and are most likely, as you say, merely brokers of some kind.

Considering the negative TNW and the cash in the bank of £1m what happens to customers' overpayments from estimated bills if the thing goes pear shaped?

I guess they get distributed to credits with any preferential creditors coming first such there could be little left for the consumer.

It may now appear that because EDF asked for readings without leading zeroes and my meter has gone past 09999 to 10001, that could be the problem.

I can do the maths, why can't they?
