What an utter, utter plank.
"I made a mistake"
What? You tripped over and fell face first onto a pile of cocaine and accidentally breathed in?

He could try this one:
An ITF panel accepted Gasquet's claim that the substance was in his system after he kissed a woman who had taken cocaine in a nightclub.

Would that be a defence for failing a breathalyser after kissing a drunk woman?

>> Try it and let us know:)
Wait 'til I get back from the town tonight!

He's got his demons, a bit of a George Best or maybe a James Hunt.
No that's not Cockney rhyming slang ...
|
Berkshire Hunt ... He's a right berk.
:)
|
And Andy Murray tests positive for Ovaltine and Horlicks.
I believe the expression is "Berkeley Hunt"

He made a mistake in life, thinking taking cocaine was something he could get away with and not affect his career.
It was a big mistake. He is not coming up with excuses or trying to escape the consequences. We all make mistakes in our lives.
"Let him who is without sin amongst us cast the first stone" seems appropriate.

Kind of.
I'd emphasise that I did not comment on his morality or integrity, I commented on his intelligence.
He works in an industry where he * knows* he will be drug tested. He *knows* cocaine will be detected. He *knows* that being tested positive will endanger his career.
Like I said; a Plank.

I guess he was foolish but there again who hasn't done something stupid that could have had adverse consequence at some time in their lives? Some get found out, most get away with it.

Very true.
The difference between those who are inside and the rest of us is they got caught and we didn't.
|
But an athlete/sports person is more likely to be caught taking drugs because of blood tests.

Historically most dopers have got away with it, and many still do. I don't know how rigorous dope testing is in tennis, but in football for example you would have to be unlucky to get caught. Eyebrows were raised a few years ago at how certain Spanish teams were running round like five year olds at the end of a game while their opponents were dead on their feet.
|
I see a lot of footballers acting like 5 year olds.......

This isn't doping, it's a big mistake though it's not taking drugs to illegally enhance performance.

Cocaine is a stimulant, although that wasn't the primary reason for taking it in this case.
