Just heard a bloke being interviewed. His logic on illegal immigrants. If someone broke into your house they would be a burglar and punished. If someone breaks into your country they are given benefits and housing.

God help us. People just don't get told the facts.

If they're illegals they get nothing - most disappear into the 'black economy' of illegal and exploitative work.

Asylum Seekers are not illegals, though there may be argument that those arriving in UK could have claimed asylum earlier. While their claims are considered they are given basic housing and a limited allowance, far less than UK citizens, for living expenses. Not cash, it's on a card. They're not allowed to work.

Legal migrants, for the most part, have the words 'no recourse to public funds' on their residence permits.

Both are about refugee/asylum numbers not illegals. The second set also bust the myth that people only have to claim asylum to be welcomed with open arms. Across the piece 60%+ are rejected.

His logic was flawed. The burglar gets sent to a prison where he/she is housed, fed, watered, exercised, with access to the best facilities that human rights requires. Don't know if their crime is serious enough to lose right to vote in an election though:
"Europe’s highest court appeared to significantly undermine Britain’s blanket ban on inmates voting. The European Court of Justice (ECJ) yesterday ruled that the vote may be stripped from inmates who have been convicted of “serious” crimes and where they have a right to appeal."

Even the Germans eventually deport failed asylum seekers: Yesterday they deported a girl born in Germany:

"Bivsi was born in 2002 in the German city of Duisburg. Her parents came to Germany from Nepal in 1998, and she has never even seen the small Asian country she has now been deported to. Her parents have repeatedly applied for asylum from German authorities, but their requests were repeatedly rejected. Their latest attempt to gain asylum in Germany failed in 2016 and they were subjected to deportation scheduled for May 29, 2017, Germany’s Focus magazine reports.".

If someone breaks into your house they would be charged and punished. If someone is invited they get a coffee and a welcome.

Same with immigrants ...

Asylum seekers are something else again of course, kind of like the stranded motorist who knocks on your door at 2am in the pouring rain with a crying baby. Do you invite in or shut out ...

That does appear to be a mean spirited decision given how many others the Germans are letting in! She was born in Germany Probably doesn't even speak the Nepalese language.

She is being deported with her parents presumably.

Otherwise,

a) she would remain in Germany alone while her parents were deported, or

b) they all get to stay in Germany because the parents managed to make a baby while their application to remain was ultimately unsuccessful.

If the Germans allowed b) then that opens the door for all and sundry to procreate once in Germany as a ticket to remain.

Doesn't seem very mean spirited to me.
