Sad news, part of growing up for me.

An honest,loving statement.
A family statement said he had "endured and suffered from" Alzheimer's disease.
"Whilst he will be greatly missed by his wife, family and many friends his release from continuing ill health must be counted as a blessing," it said.

Sad news.
SWMBO and I both remember watching him as youngsters.
RIP
|
Shep is waiting to leap all over him
|
I enjoyed him very much when I was young, especially on Blue Peter.
As an adult i was never quite so sure how pleasant he was, but without doubt I have fond memories.
|
I once won a "Blue Peter" badge - for something to do with naming a Dalek I recall ;-) it came with a signed 'photo of Noaksy, Chris Trace, Val Singleton and Pets.
|
Me too, but mine was for making as many words as I could out of a longer word. I don't even remember what the longer word was - it might have been "competition".
Assisted by my much missed grandmother.

"competition"
Titmen.
Where's my badge?

Last 15 mins or so of Radio 4 PM programme taken up with a tribute including lengthy contribution from Peter Purves.
|
This youtube video of him climbing Nelson's Column is a must. Apparently he did it twice because there was a sound problem on the first take.

Presumably his family will lay him to rest in a coffin he made earlier from empty cereal boxes and some sticky backed plastic?

And when he arrives at the pearly gates St Peter will present him with a pair of wings and say.......
Here's one I made earlier.
