Yes, one at each end. Powered by the main hydraulic system and controlled with a waist high "T" spanner fitted to a flush deck control valve near the capstans.

If it's anything like my mate's boat, you just jump off the front with a piece of thick string. Naturally, if it's a sub, you'll need to surface first ;-)

Not in my day. Smoking was banned for specific reasons and in certain areas. Now, it would not surprise me if they are totally non smoking.

The capstans are retractable, as are the cleats for securing the mooring ropes.
