I think a trident sub was hit with a hammer, not sure of the damage.

The most likely result of that would be the hammer bouncing back and breaking your nose! :-)

The report said a few grands worth so not a huge amount really. Can't find the link at the moment. It was a few years ago.

I can think of a few small thin steel components that you could damage with a hammer, other than that it would be like hitting a battle tanks armour. With the amount that the MOD pays for equipment a couple of thousand in damage is insignificant. It's all about publicity and embarrassment for those who feel it, (not my pay grade). :-)

The security of the shore side of Faslane is multi layered and good. One of the peace campers attempts involved an old fire engine parked alongside the perimeter fence, old carpets thrown over the razor wire, only for them to drop inside the fence into razor wire coils. Much to the amusement of the waiting MOD police. The weak point was the water side access but that has long been sorted.

I dare say most of yoos have seen this piece from Andrew Neil, but for those who haven't:

Has this thread (I mean the one we're in now, not the "Volume 1" referenced above) got anything at all to do with the events in Westminster? I can't see any connection. So is it really "Westminster Attack Volume 2"?
P.S. Having only just glanced at Dog's link, I suppose that is the sole post in this thread that is relevant. All the other stuff seems to have come from some other topic.

In the 1st volume there was some discussion over the approach to terrorists, with some input from Old Navy from real life experience in respect of protecting Faslane, and the protests there. The old thread effectively ended with his post at 24 Mar 17 19:22 but due to the vagaries of the forum software that is not physically at the bottom of the thread.
So while stand alone this thread may look unrelated, in reality it did follow. It's hard to know how/when to split a thread, sometimes it ends up makes a hash of a discussion, but that can't be foreseen and this is one of those unfortunate occasions.

I understand - sort of.
P.S. Just found RP's post in the first thread, buried in the middle: "About to start Volume 2. Carry on the Submarine debate by all means. Interesting."

It was real world rules of engagement stuff from ON.
|
On the BBC today it states that Andreea Cristea, the woman who fell in to the Thames has died.
Sad news especially as her boyfriend had intended to propose on the day of the attack.
