A friend casually mentioned that her daughter was piling the miles on with her "new car". Having worked for the company for a few months her daughter was told she would be working in Stirling - about 10 miles away from her home rather than locally - she could walk it on a nice day.
20 miles per day x 5 x 78 weeks is an extra 7,800 miles.
The girl did not request the move - she was told - something at the back of my mind said she should be getting mileage. After prompting she duly asked the supervisor who said NO. So she phoned HR who agreed 7,800 miles @ 25p = £1950!!
I was hoping for a thank you at least BUT the phone has failed to ring! The girl's mother said thank you BUT the 24 year old has banked the money & forgotten her manners!.

You told her to ring HR? Not been obtuse, it's not clear.

Used to be known as the Personnel Department.
The name change says it all. You are just a resource like cabbages or paper clips.
So treat your company as a money resource :-(

What else is it then?
Obviously one tries to find the most pleasant, rewarding "money resource" you can, but for the vast majority of people that's exactly what it is.

>>Temp or permanent move?
She got the money & 2 weeks later left for a job nearer home that pays a wee bit more per hour & more regular hours (+ overtime opportunity if she wants extra ££s!)
