"Found" my old Silva compass (packed inside a pair of old walking boots) - checked it with my iPhone's electronic version - seems absolutely spot on. What a simple piece of tech that actually works. Brilliant.

I still have a pair of "Path-Finders" ( the ones the Cubs used to use with the Animal footprints on the sole, and a Compass embedded in the heel) - it too still works! ;-)

I think I would prefer the traditional one. It works when batteries have died!
