I was thinking only this morning that things in a kitchen are designed for a woman's world.
How are we men supposed to do our share when scissors, for example, are made with absurdly small holes so that my thumb always gets stuck?
It's true I was only using them to bare some cable to wire up a plug (man's work) but how did the manufacturer know I wasn't going to cut lining paper to bake the Christmas cake?

Typical man!

There are any number of appropriate tools that can be used to do that...

Wire strippers
Pliers
Pruning penknife
Vegetable knife

......and don't you know it blunts the scissors to use them for something like that?

Yes, I know - that was just an illustration :)
I really did cut up greaseproof paper and make the cake, and my thumb still got stuck in the handle.

That's what the creator in its infinite wisdom gave us incisors for.

He's got a point about pick-ups. I have in the past tried to work out why I might want one but I just couldn't.

A publican friend has one, which is handy for carting barrels. But not as handy as a van would be.

Some friends lived in South Carolina for a while. The thing there, in a fairly well off suburb, was to have a car, a 'minivan' and a 'truck'. The latter might well incorporate gun storage for 'hunting'.

Having driven a few they really a vehicle suited to America, wouldn't have one over here though.
The smaller Japanese ones are popular with farmers around here though.

It seems to me that cameras are designed for the right handed. I'm curious, therefore, to know whether left-handed people try to avoid pressing the shutter button with the first finger of the right hand.

Well long time since i used a "proper" camera, but I always used my middle finger!

Although I'm still strongly left-footed, over the years I've noticed that I'm more ambidextrous now! - case of adaptation!

I belong to a fairground forum where masses of photos are posted and I've noticed that some members consistently post ones where the horizon is down on the right hand side. I've always assumed that they were simply a bit clumsy, but recently I wondered if they might be left handed.

Never found pressing shutter with index finger of right hand an issue, I would though adjust focus and aperture with left. Set of electric cable strippers I've had for years are a bit of a struggle left handed and there's the odd bike job/tool where I've ended up crossing my arms tobring purchase/dexterity to bear.

Worst bit of kit I recall was the first generation of electronic credit/debit card machines that superceded the multiple paper/carbon slips. These needed a signature before the transaction was finalised but lefties had nowhere to rest their hand resulting in sigs that bore little resemblance to the specimen.

Although I can only write with my left hand I've trained myself to use mice and numeric keypads wuth my right. Couldn't do my job properly without side numeric pad.
