Last night's storm - Armel Coussine
... muttered and grumbled in the middle distance, with a flicker of light from time to time. After I'd gone to sleep there was suddenly a colossal, terrifying bang and very vivid flicker of light as lightning struck either the house or something very near it.

Last time I remember something like that was from when I was at school in the fifties. That time was even more alarming, as my room looked into a closed quadrangle all of whose windows rattled when lightning struck some part of the buildings. When something like that happens you can be jumpy for the next day or so, but I'm not today. Perhaps after two strikes separated by 45 or 50 years I am getting used to it.

Heh heh... but no, pepper doesn't affect me like that. It was definitely an external phenomenon.
