 Grassroots Media - Armel Coussine
I've received a copy of Grassroots Media Zine 3, dedicated to my late good buddy Hoppy, put together by a Japanese lady. I must have been a source for some of it but am not mentioned in the acknowledgements or anywhere else.

I don't mind though, being quite happy to let Adam Ritchie and Miles have the credit. I didn't publish anything in those days being preoccupied with translating knotty French texts for money. Really I am glad to have been present throughout and to have known, more or less, most of the people mentioned in it (even the not at all nice Michael de Freitas who called himself Michael X).

Before me as I write are a Hoppy-signed A4-sized photo of William Burroughs and a postcard of Malcolm X, also by Hoppy. Last time I saw him he was in hospital, dying, but as sweet and mischievous as ever.

We were close friends from the late fifties until his death early last year. RIP... he was a great cat, fabulous in all senses.
