My brother & my nephew going to see the Quo in Blackpool tonight.. Managed to get a pair of tickets for £25 each. The last time I saw them was 1973 at St Georges Hall in Bradford, tickets cost £1 in the stalls. I was in my mid teens, probably inebriated after several pints of Guinness at an under age drinking den, and my ears rang for days afterwards.
He is looking forward to it but I'm not sure reliving my youth would be a good thing. Think I'll just have several pints of Chinook at my local instead.
Big day tomorrow...t'Tour a Yorkshire. Day 1 ends in Settle, lycrists pass my local in Giggleswick so bunting out, all tables moved to roadside from the beer garden & BBQ arranged by the landlady. festivities start at noon.

Seeing as I've just coughed £56.50 to see them in December at the O2 in London, I'd have to say I would.
Going more for the socialising with the lads, really though. I'm not the biggest fan, I'm a bit young for their demographic. But, how bad can it be, eh? It'll be a laugh.
|
I would, in a second.
It will be fun. How could it not be?

Booze + serious headbanging - you're going to feel great next day :)

There's no accounting for taste. They weren't my sort of thing at all.

I've just had a chat with my nephew, currently home on leave. The £25 tickets are gone, but he could get me one on Groupon for £37.50. Free lift there & back from outside my local this evening, but I'm not bothering.
Going to Leeds tomorrow on t'train to escape the bike race which finishes in Settle. Might watch Jungle Book film, have a pint, buy some smart shoes.
Feedback from my Settle market place contacts is that there a lot of French camera people around setting up gantries to film the finish.,poor sods. It's lashing down, but they should be able to drink some 1664 or Stella in my local tonight

Absolutely. Jazz, for example, is mostly beyond me.
In any case, Quo is supposed to be fun, not sophisticated or culturally enhancing. And I find it great fun.

I'm sure it is FMR. I wasn't running it down. I'm not snobbish at all about popular music. It comes good in all shapes and sizes.

Whatever you want, I guess.
|
I most definitely would.....
I saw them for the first time circa 1972...!...and my ears are still ringing now.
I cannot remember going to concerts with anything like the atmosphere of a Quo gig...awesome simple boogie rock.
Listening to the Pictures CD right now...Rock on!
|
Saw them live in the 80s.....would possibly go and see them again. Persuading my other half might be tough.
|
Threaten to take someone else. Usually works...
;-)
|
Correct,like Sweet Caroline...:))
|
What, Neil Diamond's missus?
Saw them in a sports hall in Reading, probably early/mid 90s, on a warm-up gig for their Christmas London (02?) gig.
It was a really good evening. No seating so no sitting Down Down, but I Ain't Complaining, even though they play the same chord Again and Again.

I'm trying to picture you in Chords. Mmmm, not sure :0)
|
My favourite Status Quo album was " Just Sopossing " Sorry for the spelling error.
|
Their recent acoustic album and associated video was very good.
|
Saw them at the Blue Bell, Burton Agnes - just outside Bridlington, last year.
Open air, pub car park event supported by LIndesfarne. Cracking night!!!!! Definitely see them again.
