Is he really outa here? - Armel Coussine
Yesterday or so, Zero appeared to flounce.

Like many others, I hope most earnestly that he will think again and reappear.

Be a pity if he has. Didn't GC Norwich pack his bags as well the other day?

I hope not.

I really can't understand flouncing. This is only a make-believe soap opera. Everyone here is only acting a part, and Zero acted the part of an aggresive but amusing and knowledgeable regular of the C4P Arms.
To flounce seems to me like getting cross with a character in a book so flinging it across the room and then storming off and refusing to eat one's dinner.

What's the story on that? He seemed such a sensible laid-back sort of bloke, very knowledgeable, nice humour. Not a flouncing type, I'd have thought.

I think he felt strongly about treatment some were meting out to Fluffy. Runfer also mentioned a debate about the English way of dealing with property transactions where opposing commentary may have been taken personally.

Difficult to trace his posts because, before flouncing, he changed his user name to an item of punctuation. Must be a different one to that used by GB when he went.....

Zeddo has form for this. He disappeared from here around this time two or three years ago and came back in the autumn. IIRC, took a sabbatical from HJ for a time too.

"CG appears t be back!!"

Part of the job-requirement for being a Norwich City supporter is to develop a thick skin. ;-)

What's the social protocol on this - just asking out of interest, you understand?

Creep back in under another name and hope no one notices? Return, suitably chastened and apologetic, sorry chaps, don't know what came over me, feeling a bit off-colour, shade too much to drink?
Or a more brazen attitude - I'm still cross, I'm warning certain people, I'll return as long as there's no repetition, etc?

Does one pick up the reins and carry on as before, with the same attributes? Or have a go at playing a different part for a change, to avoid being type-cast?

Zero means nothing anyway, so does it really matter??

Absolutely an abrasive know it all.

However, he really does know an awful lot and he is always the one to step forward with help.

Which us more than can be said for the spineless and worthless thumbers and frowners who remain.

Would someone remind me, please, of that old expression concerning a pot and a kettle.

The knowledge base in this place has been going down over time, very few left with real knowledge rather than read a lot of books about something knowledge.

His departure is a loss to this forum.

(a) it was voluntary, as he got his retaliation in first, and (b) after falling on his sword he was 'banned' for good measure, so there's pride at stake on both sides. Don't hold your breath.

Pity, I was about to post a query that was very much Zero territory.

I wonder if he felt a bit inadequate among us in some way. I mean, we all have decent cars, apart from him and Lud and, howl long has he had that flipping old Lancer now??

:}

"I mean, we all have decent cars,"

It's not often that you hear something positive about a 9yr old Astra 1.3 CDTI estate.

Or a Yaris diesel, (soon to be replaced).

Don't forget that cars registered after April 1st next year come under the new tax regime.

Hint - the Chancellor will not lose any tax income.

Have you been reading car magazines again Perro? Lancer has a good reputation, and the Cruiser serves me well. Not the fastest or the most frugal, but quite adequate now that I am grown-up and patient enough to waft instead of trying to go quickly. Comfortable too, with a nice interior.

All cars are pretty crap when you get to know them. But when you know them you can circumvent their crapness so to speak.

He was knowledgeable but I don't think there should be any enticing him back, it only serves to inflate often over-inflated egos. What is regrettable though is that another member has left the building. As I've said before, on other forums that isn't a problem but on here it is since the number of new members on a monthly basis can be counted on the fingers of one foot.

Would be good, if there was a way, of having a map of GB with pins for each contributor showing where they are from. Not exact addresses or anything like that, just general areas / towns.

I often wonder, for example, how many of us live in Scotland?

There are a good many of those still here and also an element of schadenfreude which is not very pleasant to behold.

You know I is having a larf Sire. Just think yourself lucky you don't have to live with me!!

And, don't forget ... I too had a Lancer before I got the Forester and, I nearly bought a Cruiser a few years (cars) back - The memsahib still 'has a thing' for them to this very day.
Is he really outa here? - John Boy
I really like the look of the Cruiser. This Google Image page has some amazing customised versions of it:

tinyurl.com/glldgqc

A circus in France has the open topped version converted into a pickup truck. I think it was done for the people who go ahead putting up posters. I like that too.

I suppose it shows the lack of depth on the forum that when a single person leaves it creates a thread all about it.

I always get confused between that one and "When Eight Bells Toll", so I end up with an image comprising Donne, some sermons, an island of course, and then before you know where you are someone gets a harpoon through the chest and I have to go and have a coffee.

If I didn't want to spend a lot of money, and I wanted a car that could double as a van, and I wanted one with a Mercedes engine, I'd buy a diesel Cruiser.

Not overwhelmed by the styling to be honest, but I can see that it'd be a useful thing.

I did actually road test one which my used car dealer had on his foreskin butt, I decided it was too nice to leave in supermarket car parks ... among lesser automobiles :)

Plus I thought it could well be a target for tealeaves/keying merchants - unlike my boring (looking) Scooby doo.
Is he really outa here? - Cliff Pope
I had absolutely no idea what either a Cruiser or a Lancer looked like until I just looked them up. Not exactly classic designs, are they - not something that will feature in a coffee table book of great cars in 20 years time?

A guy near me has the EVO version of the Lancer Estate - looks very like a standard Lancer until you hear it!
