I thought you meant my arrival back in Yorkshire
Proper fish, chips & mushy peas tonight, after a few pints of proper beer
Who needs blue skies & warm weather. Pah.

Once upon a time, long, long ago, I was going for my early-morning cycle ride along the seafront in Hastings/St. Leo. when I got talking to a bod who'd just returned from his gaff in Spain.
The wev was awful, wet AND cold (t'was April) ... stuff this, said he. I'm going back to Spain for another month!
|
A guy I met once used to drive a taxi in Manchester from October to March, worked 7/7 for those months and then went scuba diving and generally lazing about in Turkey from April to September every year.
He seemed happy.

Andy, my garagista, packs up just before Chrimbo........takes his family to Lanzagrotty for 3 weeks.
Don't blame him.

Back in the 90's I had plans to live in Tenerife for 5 months, returning to blighty in April. I even bought a new Carnaby Hacienda and put it on this www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-45613892.html freehold site and a nice apartment www.tenerife-sun4free.com/property/listing956.htm in Tenerife but, the plans of mice and men!
Cornwall is quite nice of course, for 6 weeks out of 52 :)

Another chap I know ( self employed ) goes to Antigua for the month of January every year. Not ( he says anyway ) as expensive as it sounds if you rent a property privately on the island.
He's been doing that for as long as I can remember. They don't take much other time off but that he says is their re-charge time.

>>They don't take much other time off but that he says is their re-charge time.
My friend Don who owns the leather shop in Mevagissey says the same thing, and always has a couple of weeks recharging in Gran Canaria come February. I think I could do with some of that right now actually :)

I'm in Lanzarote right now Dog. I think you would like it here. In the unspoiled North in a rather nice house about a mile from the nearest small town. Been rather cloudy and cool for the past few days though, only about 22C max so had to wear a long sleeved shirt today.
Hoping something like Spring will return to the UK before I return in a weeks time

I have visited Lanzarote CG. I recall that I liked the North of the island more than say Playa Blanca, or Costa Teguise. I've been to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria too.
Only 22° he says! .. 5° here today with a bitterly cold wind, made me feel quite ill while I was outside doing some cutting back for an hour or so - I'm getting too old for this game ;)

We live in hope, and die in despair!

Are those the same weeks the Emmets turn up?

We were Emmets too of course, way back in the mists of time. We used to stay at a place Called Steep House in Portmellon, and end the day in the Rising Sun:

Jane and David used to own the house, lovely people with two lovely lovely children. David was a fireman, and the last I heard was that they had split up due to him fiddling about with the kids :(

Woss 7/7 mean?

Seven days a week, ( if you're hip, cool and down with the kids like wot I is...)

Which 7 is that?
And what does the other 7 stand for?

I think it's one of those things that doesn't make too sense if you think about it, best not to.
|
I don't bleedin' know do I !
I'm not that hip or cool, but I assume it's a verbal shorthand for "seven out of seven"
Anyway, now you know, you can slip it in here and there.

I laughed at Graham Norton's comment on R2 this morning:
" The groom should have no problem in meeting his 'til death do us part vow".

I flew home this afternoon after several weeks in Spain. My two amigos were moaning like crazy yesterday about having to return, so I advised them to stay on.
They have done... Our apt was vacant so they did a deal with the owner.
At least I had two spare seats next to me and room to spread out...they had already checked in online so I made sure that the ground handling staff were aware of their non appearance!
