The former BBC radio DJ and Crackerjack presenter has died at the age of 74, a few days after having a stroke, friends have said.

Met his wife when she was thirteen and he was thirty four. Married her four years later.
That would have people foaming at the mouth today. Different times.

Met them both circa 1999 I think. Refreshingly normal - but most older public figures are. He was a qualified pilot, had his own plane and actually used it to get to jobs.

Didn't know this until today but it turns out a Facebook friend's father was a producer for Ed Stewart in the Junior Choice era and has posted a fulsome tribute.
She says he was the only BBC person to attend her Dad's funeral, in spite of needing to be back at BH shortly after for his then afternoon show.

I remember him through "Look In" magazine we took as kids.
