How do I find out named defendandants at a magistrates court on a particular day?
Court lists will be posted (old fashioned paper postings) at the Court on a regular basis. There was talk years ago of it going on line. You could try phoning the Magistrates' Clerks' Office for the area. They may or may not tell you depending on which way the wind is blowing. Information isn't subject of Data Protection Act.

Local paper no good, or do you need to find out beforehand?
I did a quick Google - Easy to find the Crown Court listings. As Sooty says the local papers sometimes do. Google brought up some Nottingham newspaper that listed the cases. My memoryis vague on this but there was a pay to view website in the late 2000s.
