I have just come back from visiting a couple of orphanages with a couple of my gringo friends. Chilean orphanages in Santiago for sure, but I doubt that they're much different anywhere. These were children from baby to about 6yrs.
I went with 4 friends. We took some presents, some donations, and a bunch of cake, sweets and fizzy drinks. We spent a couple of hours playing with the children which was easy, leaving was not. They just want to play, to be read to and to be cuddled.
I won't bore you with all the emotional blackmail, but suffice to say that there are many people and places that could use a little bit of your money for Christmas. Or your donations. Even better if you can spare some time.
