Two sites I am familiar with
Tolworth, alongside of the A3 has been a bomb site for many years.
Hounslow bus garage. I guess the large garage site was the main attraction.
I assume the bus terminus would be retained.
( Similar to Kingston ? where the garage is now a multi cinema etc.)

I'm not sure how much they own now, but Tesco went on a buying spree and bought up everything where they intended to build a large store in St Albans. They then submitted a planning proposal (perhaps two) and got firmly told to forget it by both the local council and the residents.
If any site was unsuitable, this was. The area is solid traffic now in the rush hours and either side and any major increase in traffic would have just gridlocked the area. Absolutely no chance of 'improving' the roads due to other buildings, some of which are historic.
