I dont suppose anyone knows what side any of the rebels are on, so the ruskies are not bombing anyone that the brits (with drones) the yanks, the jordanians and the frogs are already bombing.

Lot of their stuff is US made, perhaps captured in Iraq. They're also reputedly selling oil and treasures and have fingers in other rackets including hostage/ransom etc. Bearing in mind the shifting alliances of Levant civil war it's also likely that some factions were previously 'goodies' fighting Assad's 'baddies' or for govt allied groups in Iraq so actually being directly armed by US (CIA?).

Also, for all the stuff about it's appalling treatment of non Muslims ISIS rooted in the Sunni/Shia schism. So yes, your subliminal point that it's also getting oil money from notionally Islamic states in the ME is also true.

Both sides, but particularly the Islamic State, are still chopping off heads using knives of varying sharpness.
There's a new video going around of a mass beheading of men in orange jumpsuits, by others in black, with faces obscured.
There is little to choose between the sides in terms of brutality, though.
If the Islamic State did not pose a real and present danger to Western countries, their values and civilisation, I'd say let them get on with it.
