Early am flight from Bristol - MD
I have to fly from Bristol at 07.00 a.m and have to leave home at 03.00 to make the deadline. I am considering 'going up' the day before, but have conflicting reviews on the Holiday Inn and other options. Does anyone have any real world advice/experience on this. Thanks.

I do not know the Holiday Inn at the airport. But..

If you have to fly at 7:00. then presumably you have to be there at 6.00. Which presumably with shower and coffee means you need to wake up in the hotel at 5.00am

I'm not sure I'd bother - especially given how light the traffic will be at 3:00 compared to the evening before.

I did make that point to Management Mark, but...........

However, the Heiress to the overdraft will be staying the night before with Hubby and two little tackers so whether we sleep is debatable. Also getting up at 01.30 to be picked up at 03.00 will disturb the family so I'm at the stage where I wish she hadn't booked the 'B' holiday. Can't be inconvenienced me. Shellfish perhaps, but at times I fail to see the advantage in so much grief for a week away. Soooo much to see and do here in Blighty, but she does not see it my way.

Anyway thank you for your thoughts and I hope that you and yours are OK given the recent traumas.

Ah, well. good luck.

We're fine thank you; there was a 5.2 early this morning - they are dropping right off now in frequency and strength. So I think its passing.

Or the seismogenic boundary is beginning to lock again and it's building up to another big one.

Just sayin'.

To be honest the Holiday Inn is the easiest choice if all you want is a room near the airport. Don't be fooled into staying in "Bristol"

Cadbury house is a nice hotel with a reasonable Marco Pierre White Restaurant Are you parking at the airport?

No parking Mike. Need a transfer service though in early hours.

Don't be such a wuss, getting up early for once won't hurt you. If it is really so bad send the family and upgrade them to a five star hotel with the money saved by you not going.

As usual you didn't grasp the full context. Back down the snake and try again.

I rarely stay over the night before an early AM flight, unless snow/ sleet is forecast and I have to cross the Pennines to MAN for a ski flight. almost got caught out once. Plus a near miss using cheapo parking several miles from the terminal and a long wait for the transfer minibus. Learnt my lesson, so now fly from LBA whenever possible, which is an hours drive from home.
I caught the 06:15 this am to AMS and stayed overnight at the ex ex place who gave me a 25 minute lift in at 04:30 so arrived an hour and 15 before the flight. Left the car at home connected to a CTEK smart charger.

Now waiting in SLC for my final flight of the day. Edible food with Delta in coach and Sam Adams special Oktoberfest beer which was a bonus. Plus a few large glasses of Sav Blanc to accompany lunch.

Hope it goes smoothly, and Mark, glad to hear things are slowly settling down.

Having had a 10 year holiday in one bash, we will never have the experience again, I expect!

It really ain't much of a holiday if you end up with jet lag for a short hop. It may feel like saving money when you book it, but when it actually happens it's definitely not!

The earliest I will get out of bed for a holiday flight is 5:00am

Mrs B and I had similar start time from East Midlands (about 70 mins from here) last time we flew. A night in the Travelodge at Donington services was about £30 - no contest c/p to the out of bed at 03:30 we'd have needed otherwise.
