Its funny, Mrs Z and I were having afternoon tea (fantastic scones) on the back lawn of Leith Hill place on Monday afternoon. In front of us was the down wards vista of the North Downs, and the Upwards slopes of the South Downs, visibility was stunning, the sky was blue the sun was shining.
I said to Mrs Z, 75 years ago, we would have seen all the squadrons from Kenley, Tangmere, Biggin, Ford, Croydon, (in all about a third of 11th fighter group) up there in front of us, tangling with the luftwaffe
