How do you sleep? - Roger.
A bit of fun, for a change!

How do you sleep?

Before I had my back problems I, knowingly at least, went to sleep laying on my back. These days my normal starting position is on my right side facing away from SWMBO.This lets me kip in a foetal position thus easing my back considerably. If my left hip/leg side is giving particular trouble I find that laying on that side helps - but it has the disadvantage of my facing my wife whose breath hits me right in the face!
Personally I'd love to have single beds these days, but the boss vehemently opposes this as she is touchy feely!

I find, as I get older - and surely grumpier - that my normal personal space has expanded hugely!

I don't like sleeping with women, so I've had my own double bed and bedroom for decades.

I have a very firm mammaryfoam mattress which only cost me about £120 7 years ago - and it still does the job OK.

I sleep on my side (both sides) as I don't like sleeping on my back. This is gonna sound funny but, sometimes if I can't sleep, I'll sleep upside down in the bed :o) .. That puts my head directly under the open window. I haven't had to do that in the last four weeks due to my puppy waking me up every firking morning before 5am

:o}

Yeah, well ... I've watched over him like a baby since I got him, but, I entrusted him to the ole woman for one hour last Sunday.

When I came back, she was holding him and saying he was injured - I hit the 'king roof !!!

Apparently, he knocked a heavy flowerpot over, which landed on his leg and he's been limping most of this week.

'Herself' has felt ill because of it, but it's no good crying over spilt milk, and what's done can't be undone.

That's puppies for you though - into anything and everything. It's made me think of parents who, in a split second, lose their babies in ponds or swimming pools :(

We have a six foot wide bed with a sprung matteres which has a memory foam sleeping surface. Plenty of room, and easy access if required. :-)

Brings to mind a builder's van I followed down the A34 a few years ago. The email address was 'rogerthebuilder@etc...

Now that has started a sniggering in SP towers. While it is quite untrue, Roger the cabin boy and all the other false Captain Pugwash names do provoke a certain amount of mirth. (Cabin boy was really Tom).

So, you didn't overtake then?

So, you didn't overtake then?

In a Berlingo towing a caravan? Come on!

I did once overtake the vehicle of a small removals outfit that called itself '2 men', but the Web address underneath made them sound like the maiden aunts of the X-Men: twomen.co.uk .

Like the Dog...I have my own room and bed. Been like that for 20 years or so. My room is my den. All my books and CDs are there plus the PC and it's associated bits. Erin likes detective stuff on the telly so I usually do the washing up at 2100 hrs then come up and log on to see what you lot are rambling on about or watch footy if City are playing.

I'll catch up on anything interesting on YouTube then, after a Scotch, I'll turn in about 0030 hrs I usually get up about 0845 hrs for a couple of cups of coffee and the paper.

Then the day can begin !

I have a room downstairs, the missus sleeps upstairs. Occasionally I might go upstairs too, but only if I've not been on the ale and the missus isn't snoring.

Realised last year that our bed was getting old and that mattress was wallowy and felt like an underfilled water bed. Every time Mrs b moved I did too. A new kingsize and firm mattress cured that.

Almost since birth I've slept lying on my front, or at least mixing that with side. Usually right side as my dominant left hand is then free to manage lights/clocks/water glasses etc. As mrs b is right handed I'm on RHS of double and she's on the left.

Swop places in the caravan though as the bed is transverse so somebody is next to the front window. It's easier for me to scramble round her than vice versa. It also leaves me with a whole window cill for bedside stuff.

Start off on my back, but nearly always wake up on my left side. This is borne out by a vertical crease that has developed in my forehead. Oddly my brother has one the same, but on the opposite side, which we put down to sharing a bedroom as children and both wanting to face away from the wall (separate beds!).

Unlike Brompy, we never make the caravan bed up into a double, preferring to sleep on the two singles. I sleep with my head at the front window end so I can put my bits and pieces on the window shelf but SWM sleeps the other way. There are 12 different cushions to put somewhere whilst not in use but we manage ok.

During the day the sleeping bags go in crush bags and live in the shower cabinet whilst the pillows go under SWM's bed. Having a 17ft 2 berth makes things easier.

It's only the last two trips that have seen me sleeping inside. I prefer to sleep in the awning but old age finds me with difficulty getting out of bed in the morning. It's not easy to put your socks on sitting on a wobbly airbed. I might revert to it on our 2 weeks in August in Pembrokeshire.......we'll see.

I have a Craftmatic electric bed at home although I never use the facilities...it was inherited from 'er mother. I can't sleep on me face....one of me shoulders develops severe pain after a while.

Last time I chose a mattress it was a solid orthopedic one. A few months ago it was replaced by a No 3 rated one (her choice this time) and I haven't had a good nights sleep since!

I don't think I sleep particularly well.

Generally average about 7 hours all in though, broken in the latter stages by next door's dog and some time-zone confusion. Occasionally though if all goes right I can sleep for a solid 10+ hours if really tired the night before. Tends to be after a run of consecutive early starts but the second night of sleep at home. Confused yet? ;-)

I drink too much. Have to get up at least once for a slash in the small hours, up to three times if there's been much beer.

Today made the mistake of accepting a smallish glass of Pol Roger before lunch in honour of the nephew's birthday. Picked at a morsel of roast pork with gravy and apple sauce, but didn't have the heart to add any peppery stuff. Or even to try a bit of crackling, after my nauseating experience with proprietary crackling a day or so back.

The older I get the more early drinking bashes me in the liver. But you never learn, you get carried away sort of thing. Bunch of monkeys what?

In my own bed I nod off flat on my back, but once asleep I splay out all limbs like a starfish. In any bed that's not mine I get woken up/ punched in the ribs/ deserted in favour of the sofa for doing this.
