Worked for MI6 presumably.

According to the police it was still 'too soon' to say how long the body had been there. Ye gods, who'd fancy being a police pathologist?
Little Venice is a nice area and pretty. But there's something a bit sinister about it, like Venice proper. A friend of ours used to live there, but she doesn't any more. Perhaps her ex still does.

Some Police statements amaze me, unless it is another unfortunate event like the guy in a holdall :-(

" Police do not know how long the body had been there, but they are treating the death as suspicious."

Meaning they need to leave it there a bit longer so that they can make a better estimate?

I think they mean they need a bigger strainer. Sounds like the case is full of human soup.

Indeed
It means the item has been in the canal for some time - weeks or months not days. How a body decomposes in cold water and enclosed in a container isn't a matter of 'simple arithmetic'.
Will take days or weeks of tests before anything is remotely conclusive.

Seems the body is a woman and they know who she is although formal identification has yet to be completed:

Three men arrested, according to the Beeb.

Suitcase in London canal - inquiry launched.
Nice one. :)
I'll just float this theory - it wasn't suicide.
|
>> Three men arrested
Murdering villains, or grieving relations who couldn't afford a proper funeral? No doubt we will be told in the fulness of time.
Jolly glad I don't have to smell the soup.
|
I wouldn't Barge in there.
|
The police have asked the public to holdall speculation until they've looked into it.
|
Smells a bit fishy to me.
|
Police have released a name...
Sam Sonite
|
Apparently she is a pole found beside a barge.
|
I'd take a punt she was killed to death.
|
Hopefully we won't have to lock this thread because of the awful puns.
|
We wondered when you'd barge in.

You knew I'd be floating by at some point.

You didn't need to stick your oar in, though.

Why, did you think I'd start a row.

Amongst other hard cases on their list, they also want to talk to French gangster Louis Vuitton, and his dodgy clergyman associate the Rev. Elation.

Hot from the coroner's office - canal found in body...
