Going to Rhodes tomorrow - Londoner
I have an early morning flight tomorrow for a weeks holiday in Rhodes, so won't be looking in on the forum. (Flying from Gatwick, sadly)

"A change is as good as a rest" according to the old proverb. That's why I love going to Europe, because I find it so utterly different to Britain, and therefore so interesting and refreshing!

Mrs L speaks fluent Greek (Her parents were from Cyprus), so that helps as well. Though funnily enough she prefers to stay in Britain!

Are there any tips from experienced travellers on what to see in Rhodes? ( We've already been told that old Rhodes Town and Lindos are "must see" items.)

The old city, obviously, and the harbour and the super-Yachts. You can smell the money!

Lets hope that the wind speed drops at Gatwick by tomorrow ,very gusty indeed here at the moment some 10 miles from LGW.The birch trees are virtually bent double.....

We were in Rhodes a couple of weeks ago. We heard on the news that, shortly before our ship docked, a boatload of bedraggled refugees had been washed up on the nearby rocks.

Er, yes, the old town's nice.

Rhodes town is marvellous and have a look at the billionaire's super yachts in the harbour. You can smell the money. Go tout tourist info and/or buy a guide at Gatwick. That will give you enough ideas to last a week. Nice time of year to go too!

You don't have to go to Greece to see those. Anyway who needs to? They are boring and gross unless you're on one.

OFFS, how disgusting.

Well, I never suspected that Rhodes would be a place for rich people's yachts. I would have thought that they would keep closer to Athens/Piraeus.

Anyhow, thanks everybody for your suggestions.

I'll now de-inflict myself from the forum and leave you to enjoy some peace and quiet for a week. If I see anything interesting then I'll report back.
