Anyone got any ideas how to remove decking stain paw prints which have dried off of white PVC ?

Don't know about decking stain, but T-Cut got ink off.

Trying (not) to imagine the back story here. You'd worked hard all day on the deck, dressed up to claim your reward and the dog came running in, across the deck, at just the wrong moment?

You are pretty much on the money there WDB ! Paw prints on the sills where they have been walked along and up the french doors as well. I didnt realise they had done it until the next day or I would have wiped it off while it was still wet. T Cut not touched it, will have a hunt for some CIF

Try the ole woman's nail varnish remover on it.

Cif?

There are specialist cleaning fluids that use solvents, so not advisable to use them too often - Google UPVC cleaner. Any mild abrasive cleaner will do for a small area.

Cif is what used to be called Jif in the UK. An abrasive cream cleaner.

I've just used some Cillit Bang on some white mouldy UPVC and it has come up good. As above you can get some UPVC solvent cleaner which is good for all sorts of jobs. Quick wipe as if it sits around for long it can melt the UPVC.

Do you feel confident about painting it all with decking stain :)

It's a very mild abrasive. When we had white UVPc double glazing installed about 14 years ago, the firm's boss advised us that Jif was ideal for keeping the plastic clean. Spot on information.

Try the caravan cleaner - "Silky". (Amazon, if you don't have a caravan accessories shop handy)
It also works very well on white UPVC window & door frames, which is why we have some in stock.

Cif in disguise? :-)

I had a huge problem when masking tape had stuck fast to upvc windows, light oak foil finish and it looked as if I could be in for a few grand. All attempts at removal with every magic potion failed until I tried"................WD40.

Thanks for all of the suggestions but Cif, Cillit Bang and T Cut have so far failed to make any impression on it. Will try WD40 MD, if not will get some Silky as suggested by Roger, I had no idea that stuff was still around, it was a recommended cleaner when I was a caravan salesman back in the 70's

Has it actually bonded with the plastic? I got it off mine - think it was Ronseal - with a very sharp scraper.

Ok, accept it as part of the house life history, and chuckle about it in years to come.

I'd roll with that one I think. May also fade in sunlight.

Meths is the correct solvent for dried acrylic paint.

(Just looked up "removing decking paint" - ethyl alcohol )
