I am a technophobe.
I own a Panasonic DMC - TZ20 digital camera and it has a 16gb SD card in it.
I can just about use it and put pictures from it onto my computer and then put those pictures into my car adverts... but it is only just. Anything more complicated I have to get my wife to have a go with it.
The damned thing is showing the following warning message when I try to use it and I have no idea how to get around it.
'This memory card is write-protected'.
Any ideas? What do I have to do to make the sodding thing work again.. I need it for my business... and I'm tempted to drop kick the thing down across the garden.
We have got the pictures off the card, it's just that I can't seem to take any more.
Presumably one solution would be to buy another SD card.

Same here, but I guess you are aware of the little 'write-protect' switch on the side of the card. Has that been inadvertently moved?

piccy of switch here.
Sometimes the cards can corrupt, and bleat about being write protected, but in truth they are just rogered.
New one fixes it, not dear.

Gets my vote, that's happened three times to me...
One Amazon-bought 64Gb card was 11+ months into warranty. Called them up, got a refund and bought the same card (well, same size but faster) for nearly 25% less. :-)

Sounds like he's accidentally slide the small switch on the card to write protect it.

I find that happens fairly often if I try and insert the SD card the wrong way round .

Thank you all....seems you were right.
I've found a recess where a switch should be and the word 'lock' written on the card... only there is no switch, so I'm guessing Mr Hamfisted has knocked it off when trying to insert it into the computer...(by trial and error not sight).
Looks like a new card is needed.

Might be worth giving the device you think it broke off in a bit of a tap and a shake in case the little plastic tag is still inside. Better out than in, as Grandma used to say.

New SD card has cured it, thank you.
