Not really embarrassed, more on the lines of being lucky to have struck gold.

Pity he couldn't remember or didn't know his name.

Stuart Flinders is normally based in Manchester, so would be unlikely to recognise Lawrence or other older Liverpool or Everton players.

I certainly wouldn't have recognised him as his appearance has changed quite markedly and I've seen many matches involving Liverpool and Everton over the years as I live on Merseyside.

He's also not a sports reporter. Lives near me - unless he's recently moved.

Yes, he's generally a news presenter/reporter on BBC North West. In fact he had a spell presenting BBC News 24 three or four years ago and, of course, Sally Nugent used to do sport for the programme until being promoted...:-)

"Embarrassed"

Eh?! I'm a regular down at our local football ground and the players change week by week; even the same player never looks the same for two consecutive games. For one match, he's got black hair - a fortnight later, it's blond ......... then it's long, then it's short, then it's a mohican. Would I recognise any of them in forty years time? I doubt it - even if I do live to be 105!
