 Outsourcing overseas - Mapmaker
I note that many UK companies are using Indian call centres as the costs are cheaper out there.

I recall that a woman on benefits took her child to Goa for three months, and was slated by the Daily Mail.

Many people (aspire to) retire to Spain.

The Corporation of London has council houses in the Lake District and by the Sea for people to retire to - indeed, if you want a council house in the Lakes, the best way to do it is to make yourself homeless in London; people do it regularly.

This set me thinking.

We should provide Council Houses in places in the sun. There would be no need for winter fuel benefit. The UK housing problem would be eased. It's cheaper to live out there: housing, wine, beer all cheaper than here. A large expat community in a distant corner of the EU.

Who would be losing?

We would MM, they still get their winter fuel benefit.

Their argument is that they have paid in for it all their lives by working in the UK and are entitled to it.

I don't agree.

IIRC Japan has been exporting wrinklies to Hawaii for quite a while.

It is about time the EU started to make some laws to ensure wrinkly export is made mandatory . :-)
