 Tricky gender question - Ambo
Being enrolled on a FutureLearn course starting soon, I was asked to fill in a preliminary questionnaire. In the section for gender, I was asked to tick one of the alternatives Male/Female/Other/Prefer not to say.

What sexes might be entered under Other?

Take your pick from the ones Facebook offer.

Noted with thanks but this looks like over-supply and "gender fluid" seems a bit ambiguous.

The question is presumably intended to deal with people who identify as transexual. It should be more explicit though.

There doesn't seem to be a category of "None".
Isn't that a bit discrimatory - there must be lots of Vatican castrati and former employees of the Chinese imperial court who would love to be able to use Facebook?

>>Vatican castrati

They might have lost interest since I believe they would be about 140 years old by now.

>> Vatican castrati

Eunuchs guarded the early Muslim monarch Harun al-Rashid's sinfully huge harem... European women were especially prized and pampered.

No one was going to call an absolute monarch followed everywhere by a faithful executioner (whose services he often used in an impulsive sort of way) a dog in the manger.

One long standing member of our training team, previously alled 'Bill' too to androgynous clothing/hair etc and adopted preferred name of 'Katie'. No alterations to tackle etc.

It's only a short step further to flip from one to the other according which you feel like that morning.

Gives me a mental image of three-in-a-bed.

I suggest another classification, None Of the Above
