I had Lance Percival in the back of the cab once. Or rather, he sat in the front seat of my Singer Vogue, then a Clapham minicab, like a decent fellow.
I recognised him and said I had enjoyed his TV work. Hearing my bourgeois, non-South London accent, he sent me up endearingly by addressing me as 'Sir'. Quite funny I thought.
