"you have unsophisticated and narrow musical taste."
Apparently, when Ray Charles was asked: “Who are the greatest living blues singers?†he answered: “Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Joe Cocker.â€
Maybe Ray Charles had unsophisticated and narrow musical tastes too?
I saw Joe at the Leicester Poly Arts Ball in '69 or '70, and he was terrific.
Indeed, a great loss. Not so much because I thought his music was fantastic as mostly it wasn't really my sort of thing, but because he was an individual full of character.
We need more individuals in the music business, and until we work out how to bypass one Direction and generate individual talent, we need the existing ones to hold off on dying for a while.
