"Eleven people have been killed in a stampede after a religious service in a stadium in Zimbabwe, police say.
Four people died in the stadium in the central town of Kwekwe, while seven others were declared dead on arrival in hospital, they say.
The stampede occurred as thousands of worshippers rushed to leave after the service by popular Pentecostal preacher Walter Magaya.
He claims to be able to heal people by performing miracles."
Bad day at the office there then.

He'll be claiming miracles for those that survived. These people always take the credit (for themselves or the god they purport to act for) and strangely silent when we ask who caused the problem in the first place.

Panicking or excitable crowds can be very frightening and dangerous. You really don't want to be there, especially if you are small, slow on your feet or physically weak.
To be fair, that applies anywhere, but these things seem to happen more often in the third world.

What I mean is that a single, perhaps accidental gunshot can transform a peaceable, murmuring crowd into a randomly stampeding mob in an instant. I've been there, and it's very dodgy.
